LISA returns with PRESS PLAY, a six-track EP released on 23 October 2026. Following her debut studio album, Alter Ego, the project brings together music and visual storytelling through a cinematic concept. From its action-inspired lead track to the different moods across the EP, the release presents another side of LISA’s creative direction.
A Music Video With a Cinematic Vision
The EP’s title track, “Tarantino,” brings its film-inspired concept to life through an action-packed music video that references filmmaker Quentin Tarantino’s distinctive style. LISA moves through a hotel on a mission to deliver a letter, facing a series of obstacles along the way. The result places her performance within a stylised action narrative, giving the release a visual identity that extends beyond choreography.
The six-track EP features “SaWaDiKa,” “V12,” “Cobra,” “Tarantino,” “Cut U Off” and “Sweat.” Released ahead of the EP, “SaWaDiKa” incorporates a connection to LISA’s Thai heritage, bringing her cultural background into a project shaped for a global audience. Alongside the cinematic approach of “Tarantino,” it adds another dimension to the release without making the EP’s identity dependent on a single concept.
Shaping Her Solo Identity
What makes PRESS PLAY compelling is the contrast between its individual elements and its overall presentation. The cinematic direction gives the release a recognisable visual thread, while the six tracks offer different moods and expressions of LISA’s artistry. Rather than presenting the EP as a complete departure from her previous work, it builds on the experimentation introduced in Alter Ego.
LISA’s performance background has long been central to her appeal. As a solo artist, she can extend that strength beyond the stage, using music videos, styling and visual concepts to shape how each release is experienced. With PRESS PLAY, the film-inspired approach becomes part of the project’s identity rather than simply a backdrop for its music.
Ultimately, PRESS PLAY is less about reinventing LISA than about exploring how she presents herself as a solo artist. Its combination of music and cinematic imagery offers a clearer view of the creative choices shaping her work beyond BLACKPINK.
